The meeting is the first tangible sign of progress since an agreement was reached on August 25 that brought to a halt a series of clashes across the Demilitarized Zone that divides the peninsula.
Kim Ki-Woong, the head of the South Korean Unification Ministry's special office for inter-Korean dialogue, and his North Korean counterpart Hwang Chol discussed the time, place, agenda, and participants for the next round of talks.
