The resolution outlines three phases: an immediate ceasefire, the release of hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners, and a plan to resettle Gaza. The ceasefire will persist until phase three negotiations are concluded.

The resolution firmly rejects any attempts to alter Gaza’s territory or demographics and commits the Security Council to a vision for a two-state solution, peaceful coexistence of Israel and Palestine along recognized and secured borders based on international law and relevant UN resolutions.

In a statement, Hamas said it welcomed the resolution and expressed readiness to indirectly negotiate the implementation of the principles "that are consistent with the demands of our people and resistance."

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is currently in the Middle East promoting a solution to the Gaza conflict. He said his discussions with Israeli and Arab leaders will prioritize plans for post-conflict Gaza.
