UN Security Council holds emergency meeting on Syria

(VOVWORLD) - The UN Security Council will hold urgent talks on Wednesday on the failure of a 30-day ceasefire in Syria.

The meeting was requested by France and the UK because airstrikes and shelling have continued in eastern Ghouta on the outskirts of Syria’s capital Damascus.

The Security Council approved a resolution in February called for an immediate 30-day halt of hostilities to allow humanitarian aids to reach the area and demanded an end to food and medicine theft.
