US and Chinese leaders agree on a number of issues

(VOVworld) – US President Barack Obama and Chinese President Xi Jinping have committed to boosting bilateral relations, focusing on reducing the possibility of military conflicts and efforts to deal with climate change.

At talks on Wednesday in Beijing following the 22nd APEC summit, Mr. Xi Jinping said China would like to work with the US to implement the principle of no conflict, no confrontation, mutual respect, cooperation and prosperity so that the new-style relationship between the world powers could bring benefits to the people of both countries and the world. The two leaders also agreed on a number of cooperative issues especially in the military field. Regarding efforts to avoid any unexpected military confrontation, both sides officially agreed to regulations on behaviors of the two countries’ armies in the territorial waters near China.

Regarding the issue related to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, President Obama said the US will not get involved in this issue and all issues there must be decided by the people of Hong Kong and China. The two leaders also agreed on targets to reduce green house gas emission.
