US Central Command’s Twitter, Youtube accounts hacked

(VOVworld) – The US has confirmed that the Twitter and YouTube accounts of the US military’s Central Command (Centcom) that oversees operations in the Middle East were hacked on Monday by individuals claiming to be supporters of the Islamic State. The background and profile photo of the Twitter account were both changed to a gunman wearing a hijab and the phrases “CyberCaliphate” and “I love you isis”. The AP reported a message on Centcom's Twitter feed: "American soldiers, we are coming, watch your back." A list of names, mobile numbers, and email addresses of American generals was published. The YouTube account featuring videos of air strikes against IS in Syria and Iraq was hacked to add two IS videos.

Centcom confirmed the hacking and said it is taking appropriate measures to address the matter.
