Wang said China was open to discussion with the US on all issues of mutual concern to enhance understanding. He said as members of the UN Security Council, they should work closely to reach consensus in many areas.
Wang said Kerry’s visit to China will improve mutual understanding and minimize suspicion. Kerry said the US and China can elevate their relations to a higher level based on mutual respect in regard to global issues including Iran’s nuclear program, climate change, the Afghan war, the North Korean nuclear program, and East Sea issues.
The US called on China to make more efforts to limit North Korea’s nuclear program and reduce tensions in the East Sea.
