(VOVworld) – US Defense Secretary Ashton Carter arrived in Iraq on Sunday to meet with Kurdish leaders. They discussed military operations backed by the US against the Islamic State in Mosul.

Carter met with Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Al Abadi and is now travelling to the Kurdistan area to meet Masoud Barzani, the Kurdish leader in Iraq, and Lieutenant General Steve Townsend, the top US commander in Iraq.
