Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin said there will be additional sanctions against Russian government officials and oligarchs “for their destabilizing activities.” Mnuchin did not give a timeframe for those sanctions, which he said would sever those individuals’ access to the US financial system.

The new sanctions include the Federal Security Service (FSB), the Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU), and 6 individuals working on behalf of the GRU.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that Moscow is preparing retaliatory measures, the Interfax news agency reported.
