(VOVworld) – The US Department of State said on Friday that the US, Japan, and South Korea will hold expert-level talks on the Korean peninsula's issues on Wednesday in Washington. This will be the first high-level tripartite talks since North Korea launched its third nuclear test in February. US special representative for North Korea Policy Glyn Davies will chair the meeting aimed at discussing a number of issues related to North Korea. Davies is expected to have bilateral meetings with his Japanese and South Korean counterparts – Shinsuke Sugiyama and Cho Tae Yong respectively – on Tuesday. Earlier, a Japanese official said the upcoming meeting will discuss the possibility of holding ministerial talks on the sidelines of meetings by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in Brunei next month.
