Addressing a regular press briefing on Thursday, Vietnamese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Le Thi Thu Hang, said the visit is part of an agreement between the two countries’ leaders: “The agenda will include courtesy visits, press conferences, technical exchanges, community meetings and humanitarian activities in Da Nang City. This visit by the US Navy ships are conducted under agreement between high-level leaders as indicated in a joint statement between Vietnam and the US during President Donald Trump’s visit to Vietnam last November. This will continue the promotion of bilateral relations in line with comprehensive partnership framework for peace, security, stability and cooperative development in the region.”

The spokeswoman said that Cambodia is to issue resident right to Vietnamese Cambodians. Vietnamese representative agencies have cooperated with Cambodian counterparts to facilitate the long-term and stable life of Vietnamese Cambodians in Cambodia.
