During a telephone talk with Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc at the US request, President Trump offered Vietnam several ventilators to cure COVID-19 patients and called for closer cooperation in fighting the disease.  Regretting about the postponement of the special ASEAN-US summit due to the coronavirus pandemic, President Trump said he hopes the US-ASEAN ties will be strengthened in the near future.

Prime Minister Phuc and President Trump expressed their pleasure over substantial progress of the Vietnam-US relations in all fields and agreed to boost economic-trade ties and open markets for each other’s goods.

Both leaders discussed measures to deepen the two countries’ relationship, particularly on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties and to contribute to peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region.

On the same day, at the request of the US, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh talked on the phone with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. Both leaders agreed that the Vietnam-US relations continue the positive development across a multitude of fields, especially economy-trade.

They consented to closely coordinate to carry out cooperation activities to mark the 25th anniversary of the bilateral diplomatic ties in 2020, deepening the Vietnam-US comprehensive partnership.
