US ready to resume talks with North Korea

(VOVWORLD) - US Deputy Secretary of State Stephen Biegun, winding up three days of talks in Seoul Thursday, reaffirmed US support for inter-Korean cooperation and readiness to engage in new talks with North Korea.

During his visit, Biegun briefly met with South Korean Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha before formal talks with Vice Foreign Minister Cho Sei-young and chief nuclear negotiator Lee Do-hoon, to whom he underscored the importance of a strong alliance between South Korea and the US. 

Before leaving South Korea, Biegun met with Suh Hoon, the new director of the Blue House National Security Office, to discuss ways to preserve peace on the Korean Peninsula and resume nuclear talks.
