The commitment was made at a meeting between US Secretary of State John Kerry and Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel and their Russian counterparts Sergey Lavrov and Sergei Shoigu in Washington on Friday. At the meeting, the two sides pledged to work together on shared interests even as they nursed frustration over deep differences on issues like missile defense, Syria and the nuclear issues in Iran and North Korea. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov also acknowledged the fractious state of relations but called on both sides to enhance bilateral ties, particularly in economics and trade.
