(VOVworld) - The US Senate’s vote on Tuesday, 97-2, to admit Montenegro to NATO will soon be submitted to President Donald Trump.

Addressing the polls, Democratic Senator Chris Murphy said that NATO would greatly benefit from the admission as the Balkan nation had a strategic geographic position. Supporters ofMontenegro’s joining NATO also affirmed the importance of consolidating the relationship between Eastern Europe countries and the West.

Twenty-five members of NATO, excluding the US, the Netherlands, and Spain, have approved Montenegro’s application.
