(VOVWORLD) - Republican and Democratic US Senators on Wednesday said they are on agreement on a new sanctions package against North Korea, and that the Senate Banking Committee will vote on the legislation next week.

The package will strengthen and expand existing sanctions and increase Congress’s oversight of North Korea sanctions. The “Otto Warmbier Banking Restrictions Involving North Korea Act of 2017” is named after a US student who died after being imprisoned in North Korea.
