US, UK expand sanctions against Russia

(VOVWORLD)  On Wednesday, the US and the UK updated their lists of sanctions against individuals and legal entities with ties to Russia. In total, 30 individuals and 90 Russian legal entities have been added to the US Treasury Department's sanctions list.

In particular, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin is on the US’s list.

Among the blacklisted organizations are the All-Russia "Young Army" National Military Patriotic Social Movement Association, mobile operator Megafon, Rusatom Overseas, the Hungarian subsidiary of the Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation, and the International Investment Bank and its branch in Moscow.

Also on the list are new structures related to USM Holdings of billionaire and business tycoon Alisher Usmanov.

According to the announcement of the US Treasury Department, the deadline to complete transactions with these companies is July 11. The US has also imposed sanctions on 17 Russian-flagged ships used to transport goods.

Earlier, British authorities updated their sanctions list to include family members of restricted Russian politicians and businessmen.

The British government has also blacklisted USM Holdings Limited, a Russian company linked to Alisher Usmanov.
