US-China Foreign Ministers scheduled for bilateral talks during G20 meeting

(VOVWORLD) - US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi are scheduled to hold a rare meeting on the sideline of the G20 meeting in Bali this week. It will be their first bilateral meeting since October, 2021.

Daniel Kritenbrink, Assistant to the Secretary of State for East Asia, said he expects to discuss having guardrails, so to speak, on the relationship so that their competition does not spill over into miscalculation or confrontation.

Assistant for the Secretary of State for Economic Affairs and Business, Ramin Toloui said that Blinken will raise the issue of energy security at the main G20 meeting and bilateral meetings in Bali. The United States supports the current UN effort to reopen sea routes for grain transportation, he said.
