Viet Nam responds to International Day of Persons with Disabilities

(VOVWORLD) -Vietnam observed International Day for People with Disabilities (December 3rd) with a ceremony in Hanoi and charity events across the country. 

Viet Nam has responded to this year’s theme "Empowering People with Disabilities, Ensuring Integrity and Equality" by focusing on sustainable development of disabled people with the commitment "nobody is left behind."

Mr. Nguyen Van Hoi, Director General of the Department of Social Assistance of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs said: “Today we are with the disabled, with compassion, responsibility, and sharing. We will continue to support people with disabilities and their rights to better their lives. We will continue to increase contributions, initiatives, and effective solutions to help people with disabilities in Viet Nam in accordance with the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.”

In HCM city, more than 7,000 people with disabilities benefitted from a charity event on Saturday. Participants were guided by volunteers on tours of historic buildings in Vietnam and abroad and took part in folk games, and other fun activities.
