Chairing a press conference in Hanoi following the Government’s meeting for September, Mr. Dung said the Vietnamese economy continues to show positive signs in every field. Mr. Dung said total social investment increased 10.3 percent. Vietnam’s FDI reached a record 14.2 billion USD, up 7.3 from last year. Vietnam’s export turnover was approximately 190 billion USD and its trade surplus was an estimated 5.9 billion USD.

Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Duc Trung said the manufacturing, construction, and service sectors were primary contributors to  economic growth: “From now to the year-end, the growth momentum will be sustained in manufacturing, construction, and services. On September 26, the government held a conference to boost disbursement of public investment. If public investment is effectively disbursed in the 4th quarter, it will promote growth in the rest of the year. We hope that with the government’s support, growth for 2019 will exceed the target set by the National Assembly”.
