Vietnam active at 33rd conference of Red Cross, Red Crescent

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam is attending the 33rd International Conference of the Red Cross and Red Crescent which opened in Geneva, Switzerland, on Monday.

Ambassador Duong Chi Dung, head of Vietnam's permanent mission in Geneva, said Vietnam always honors its commitments under the Geneva Convention, including information, medical support, food, shelter and clean water for the sick and wounded, the return of prisoners, and resolving the aftermath of war. He said that the fundamental principles of international humanitarian law are respect for human lives and dignity, even in harsh situations.

The conference attended by 2,000 delegates from organizations and member states closed on Thursday.
