The goals were announced at an annual shareholders’ meeting in Hanoi on Thursday. The meeting, the third since the company completed equitisation in 2015, discussed a number of important issues, including the modification of internal management regulations. High on the agenda was the listing of Vietnam Airlines shares on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HOSE) this year. In 2017, Vietnam Airlines operated 140,000 flights carrying 22 million passengers, raking in more than 2.8 billion USD. The corporation received a four-star rating by Skytrax for a second consecutive year and was listed among the top 10 airlines with the best on-time performance index (OTP) in the world. According to Brand Finance, an independent business valuation consultancy firm, Vietnam Airlines’ brand value last year was estimated at 310 million USD, up more than 60 per cent since 2016.
