(VOV) - Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has asked ministries, agencies and localities to speed up preparations for activities to celebrate the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Year and the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties on June 24th, 1967. A ceremonial meeting of senior leaders of the two countries will be followed by reciprocal visits by the leaders. Vietnam and Cambodia will inaugurate land border marker 314, the final marker on their shared border, sponsor trade promotion activities, and media campaigns, and organize cultural weeks in both Vietnam and Cambodia, as well as student and people-to-people exchanges. At a conference in Hanoi on Thursday, Phuc called for action plans for the collaboration with Cambodia. According to Phuc, who is also head of the steering committee for the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Year, investment and trade promotion programs should be carefully designed to help businesses increase cross-border exchanges and establish long-term partnerships.
