The company has worked with two groups of scientists from the National Institute for Control of Vaccine and Biologicals and the Hanoi University of Science and Technology in developing the test kits, using RT-LAMP and RT-PCR techniques.

Both test kits were licensed by the Ministry of Health on Friday and then underwent mass production.

Doctor Le Quang Hoa, chief researcher from the Hanoi University of Science and Technology, said: “The test result is showed via color change of the indicator, either from purple to blue or from red to yellow. Those test kits don’t require state-of-the-art machinery or well-trained technicians.”

Deputy Minister of Science and technology Tran Van Tung applauded the test kits for their simplicity, swiftness, and accuracy, suitable for mass testing. He spoke highly of Vietnamese researchers’ ability and the cooperation between scientists and businesses in developing COVID-19 test kits as part of global effort to contain the virus.

In late May, Vietnam had two new test kits which were greenlighted to enter Europe.
