Vietnam attaches importance to maintaining friendship and cooperation with China

While receiving the visiting Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi in Hanoi on Monday, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong urged the two countries to exert effort to solidify political trust, raise the efficiency of cooperation in all fields, promote people-to-people exchanges, communicate and properly handle the East Sea issues in line with international law and the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea, soon formulate a Code of Conduct in the East Sea, not to complicate the situation in the East Sea, and maintain peace, stability, friendship, and development of bilateral ties.
Mr. Yang Jiechi said the Party and State of China treasured the friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership with Vietnam and wished to enhance high-ranking exchanges, promote cooperation in economics, national defense, diplomacy, culture, science and technology and people-to-people exchanges. China will work with Vietnam to implement agreements reached by leaders of the two countries to further develop friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and China.
