Vietnam attends 55th session of the UN Human Rights Council

(VOVWORLD) - The UN Human Rights Council concluded its 55th session on Friday in Geneva, Switzerland.

The Vietnamese delegation led by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bui Thanh Son, attended the meeting as a member of the Human Rights Council for the 2023-2025 tenure.

Vietnam’s speeches covered the right to a clean and sustainable environment, food rights, cultural rights, rights of people with disabilities, and children's rights. Vietnam co-sponsored a number of initiatives in the spirit of dialogue and cooperation and voted to approve 32 draft resolutions and 2 decisions of the Human Rights Council.

In their remarks, Vietnam highlighted consistent its policies, efforts, and achievements in promoting and protecting human rights, affirming Vietnam's commitment to sustainable development for the benefit of its people.
Vietnam emphasized the need to address inequality and protect the vulnerable and called for addressing global challenges such as climate change and protecting human rights in armed conflicts.
Vietnam reiterated its commitment to enhancing cooperation with countries, the High Commission for Human Rights, the Human Rights Council and its mechanisms to promote and protect human rights for all everyone.
