Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day 2022 opens in Ho Chi Minh City

(VOVWORLD) - This year’s Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day opened in Nguyen Hue pedestrian street in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 1 on Tuesday.

At the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Pham Anh Tuan said the first Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day underscored the importance of books for knowledge, skills, mindset, and human qualities. The event is expected to encourage the reading habits in different settings: family, school, and work place to build a learning society.

On display are 500 titles and publishing models of digital books, audio books, and smart libraries of 20 publishing houses and distributors from all over Vietnam. A space called “Books and Digital Transformation” entices the audience with interactive activities, models, solutions, audio books, digital books, and virtual reality 3D books.  

The Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day will last until this Sunday across Vietnam. As part of the event, there will be the Reading Culture Ambassador Contest, an online book referral contest, a book reading event, and the launch of the Book for Community project.

An online book fair was opened on Tuesday on the platform Book365.vn, offering readers numerous discounts. 100 publishers and distributors are showcasing 40,000 book titles of multiple formats.
