They welcomed the increasing number of economic exchanges between Brazil and Vietnam in recent years and emphasized the importance of further promoting bilateral trade and investment.

PM Chinh proposed that Viet Nam and the Common Market of the South (MERCOSUR) begin negotiations on a Free Trade Agreement.

Both sides underscored the importance of an international system founded on the principles of rule of law and multilateralism, and affirmed their support for the central role of the UN in global governance, stability, and prosperity.

They agreed to join efforts toward stronger global governance under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the Kyoto Protocol, and the Paris Agreement.
