During his reception for the visiting British Secretary of State for Defence Robert Ben Lobban Wallace on Thursday, the Prime Minister called for strengthening defense cooperation for peace and stability in line with each other’s interests. Secretary Ben Wallace said Britain treasures its strategic partnership with Vietnam and praised its contribution to the region and the world. He said the Department of Defense is willing to strengthen its cooperation with Vietnam for mutual trust, especially in training and experience sharing for UN peace keeping operations. They both stressed the need to settle disputes through peaceful means based on international law, including the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.
