Addressing a United Nations Security Council (UNSC) discussion in New York on Monday and Tuesday on the conflict and humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Vietnamese Ambassador to the UN, Dang Hoang Giang, expressed deep concern about the prolonged conflict and increasingly serious humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

He held that what the UNSC has done in the past five months is not enough to prevent violence and reduce tension, and expressed his hope that the Council will stay united and make more efforts to end fighting and promote dialogue.

Emphasizing the urgency of humanitarian relief activities and the key role of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), the Vietnamese representative stressed the need to ensure there is enough water, food, medicine, and fuel for civilians to stay alive.

He welcomed all international mediation efforts to promote negotiations for peace on the basis of the “two-state solution” and existing and relevant UN resolutions.
