Vietnam calls for respect for UN Charter and the rule of law

Addressing the first open discussion session of 2023 held on Thursday by the UN Security Council, Giang called on the Council and its members to take the lead in ensuring respect for the UN Charter and the rule of law and finding peaceful solutions for all conflicts.

He reiterated Vietnam's efforts in maintaining peace and security and promoting the rule of law within ASEAN and between its partners, including the implementation of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) and the negotiation process of a Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC) in accordance with the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
