The two nations are celebrating the 50th founding anniversary of their diplomatic ties on March 25. The two leaders agreed to maintain regular exchanges of high-level delegations, carry out frequent cooperative mechanisms, and boost multilateral and inter-regional trade cooperation frameworks. They reached consensus on strengthening connectivity between ministries, sectors, localities, and enterprises to bring into full play opportunities created by the Vietnam-Chile Free Trade Agreement, which came into effect in January 2014, and work to implement the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) after Chile completes its approval process. They pledged to support each other at international forums, strengthen relations between ASEAN and the Pacific Alliance, and ensure peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the two regions.
