(VOVworld) - A ceremony was held on Monday in the northern province of Lao Cai to sign a border guard cooperation agreement between four Vietnamese northern provinces and China’s Yunnan province.

The four provinces are Lao Cai, Lai Chau, Dien Bien, and Ha Giang.

These localities will strengthen their cooperation in preventing and combating cross-border crime, illegal immigration, human trafficking, smuggling, and epidemics.

They will also promote information exchange, increase mutual trust, and equally negotiate to bring benefits to both sides.

In recent years, the two sides have implemented a number of activities to boost bilateral cooperation, such as building friendly border guard stations and a peaceful borderline. They have also facilitated the joint patrol and law enforcement of border streams and rivers.
