Deputy Secretary of the Con Dao District Party Committee Nguyen Anh Nhat said that the locality hopes to continue receiving support from the Vietnam Coast Guard in safeguarding the sovereignty of the sea and islands, and in supporting fishermen during their sea expeditions. He said that Con Dao District will continue to educate and encourage fishermen to conduct sea expeditions in compliance with the law.

General Oai said he hopes that Con Dao District will collaborate with various agencies, localities, and functional forces, including the Vietnam Coast Guard, to effectively safeguard sovereignty and maintain the security and safety of Vietnam’s sea and islands.

“This is especially crucial as we’re currently focused on preventing and combating illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing, and on having the European Commission remove its ‘yellow card’ on Vietnamese fisheries products,” he said.

“We have confidence and hope that Con Dao Island District will persist in its development and prosperity, and emerge as a steadfast stronghold in national construction and defense.”
