Vietnam completes its ICT development project

(VOVworld) – The Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Development Project saw many positive results as it was completed in 2013, creating a firm foundation to accelerate the use of ICT in Vietnam. Nguyen The Dung, a World Bank staff and head of the project, said: "According to our assessments, the ICT development project in Vietnam was a success. First of all, it created a proper infrastructure in terms of policies, human resources, and the technical foundation to help Vietnam speed up the application of a more high-tech government. In addition, it helps foster ICT application in the private sectors."

The project was launched in 2006, starting with the application of ICT at the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as Vietnam’s General Statistics Office, Hanoi city, and Da Nang city. For the first time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has a website with many languages to help foreigners and Vietnamese people living overseas to search information on visa requirements, and to register online. In Da Nang city, a public administrative hotline has provided the local people with any information on public services and socio-economic developments.
