(VOVworld) - Vietnam calls on all parties concerned to conduct a full investigation on the recent massacre of civilians in the Syrian village of Houla and follow international humanitarian norms and respect human rights. Addressing an emergency session of the UN Security Council, representative of the Vietnamese mission to the United Nations, the World Trade Organization (WTO) and other international organizations in Geneva strongly criticized the mass killing of more than 100 people in the Syrian village of Houla and expressed condolences to the victims’ families. The Vietnamese official stressed the need to settle the situation in Syria through negotiations and conciliations, while respecting the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The diplomat also asked all parties involved to strictly implement the UN’s six-point peace plan to end the violence in Syria and help the country stabilize the current situation through peaceful and political solutions.

Syria risks slipping into 'all-out sectarian war', says Kofi Annan

In another development, UN and Arab League's Joint Special Envoy for Syria, Kofi Annan, says Syria is heading for “all-out” war”. He called on concerned parties to continue dialogues and implement a cease-fire. Speaking at an Arab League meeting in Doha on Saturday, Annan said: "The spectre of an all-out war, with an alarming sectarian dimension, grows by the day." The UN has deployed 291 military observers and more than 90 officials in Syria who can freely travel and provide objective reports to the UN Security Council on the country’s situation. Violence continues while a power transfering to satisfy Syrian people’s demands is slowly processing. Also at this meeting, Annan condemned the massacre in Houla village last week that killed more than 108 people. He reiterated that the killings of women and children in Houla village is a terrible crime while the UN Security Council and UN Human Rights called for an investigation on the issue.
