In reply to reporters' questions about the COVID-19 situation in India and public health measures in Vietnam, Hang said that the Vietnamese Embassy in India has reported that the pandemic is surging there and disrupting people’s lives.

The Indian government is mobilizing resources and rolling out measures to fight the pandemic by distributing medical equipment and medicine and speeding up vaccination, she said. Hang said she believes these efforts by the Indian Government will soon have the situation under control.

Hang said Vietnam's Foreign Ministry and representative agencies in India have worked with airlines to organize flights to bring nearly 1,000 Vietnamese citizens home safely.

Currently, 100 Vietnamese citizens are still in India, she said, adding that Vietnamese representative agencies in India are keeping a close watch on the pandemic, maintain a contact channel with those Vietnamese citizens, and stand ready to conduct necessary citizen protection measures.
