Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Pham Xuan Son spoke at the event:"We treasure the friendly relations between Vietnam and Russia, hoping that this event will not only help residents of Vladimir City understand modern Vietnamese culture but will also consolidate the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between our two peoples."
On this occasion, Vietnamese people living in Vladimir City voiced their opposition to China’s illegal placement of its Haiyang 981 oil rig on Vietnam’s continental shelf and exclusive economic zone with an open letter signed by hundreds of Vietnamese students and Russian citizens. They demanded that China withdraw its oil rig and respect international law and Vietnam’s maritime sovereignty.
