(VOVworld) -  Vietnam Day 2016, themed “Journey to the Motherland” was held last Saturday in Wellington, New Zealand.

The annual event, held by the Vietnamese Embassy in New Zealand and Vietnamese Students’ Association in Wellington, allows the Vietnamese community in Wellington to reunite and introduce Vietnamese traditions to New Zealanders.

Nguyen Viet Dung, Vietnam’s Ambassador to New Zealand, said the event strengthens mutual understanding and creates cooperation opportunities for both countries.

He lauded the efforts of the association to organize the event and hoped it would contribute to boosting people – to – people exchange between the two nations’ relationship.
