Vietnam enters day 65 without Covid-19 community transmission

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam began Saturday morning with no new Covid-19 infection, marking its 65 straight days free of community transmission, according to the National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control.

94% of Vietnam’s 349 infections have recovered and no deaths have been reported.

Worldwide, the novel coronavirus has infected more than 8.7 million people and killed over 460,000, according to worldometers.info. 

The US remains the world's epicenter with nearly 2.3 million infections and over 120,000 deaths, followed by Brazil.

On Friday, Egypt recorded more than 1,700 new cases, the country’s highest number of new infections in one day, bringing the total count to more than 52,000 including 2,000 deaths.
