Aliberti met with Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien on Friday to discuss the bilateral cooperation and the implementation of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA).

Minister Nguyen Hong Dien said,“I congratulate the EU’s initial success in assisting its member countries to control the COVID-19 pandemic, which also helps global economic recovery. The Ministry of Industry and Trade wants to closely cooperate with the EU Delegation to boost programs in economics, trade and energy, as well as deal with remaining differences between the two sides”.

The two sides also discussed ways to promote bilateral ties and effectively implement the EVFTA, assuring benefits for their business community.
Aliberti said, “The EVFTA which is the key agreement that we managed to enter into force last year is really a great achievement and a great success we managed in a difficult year. In the first 10 months of implementation, we saw some positive results. We also see some challenges, which is normal because I think that happens every time with all new agreements. But of course we are here to discuss ways to overcome these challenges. As you know, the ratification of this agreement is not so easy in the European Parliament, so we have to be sure the possible challenges are overcome as to not create which should not be there”.
