Nguyen Truong Son, Deputy Minister of Health said the system, part of a Germany’s ODA project, will help people in remote areas access high-quality medical services. Viet Duc University Hospital has been recognized by the Royal College of Surgeons of England as Vietnam's first surgery  training centre meeting global standards.

Vietnam now has 1,500 stations under the national remote medical examination and treatment system, 30 of which are in central hospitals. The remainder is in provincial hospitals, medical centers, and district hospitals.
