Vietnam, Ivory Coast foster multi-faceted cooperation

Meeting with Ivory Coast Prime Minister Amadou Gon Coulibaly on Wednesday as part of a two-day visit to the African country, Mr. Thuong thanked the Ivory Coast for supporting Vietnam when the latter ran for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for the next 2 years, and for creating favorable conditions for the Vietnamese people community in Ivory Coast. Mr. Thuong suggested the two countries soon sign framework agreements on cooperation and establishing joint committee and agreements on investment encouragement and protection and double taxation avoidance to improve bilateral economic ties.

In a meeting with National Assembly President Amadou Soumahoro, Mr. Thuong conveyed NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan’s invitation to the host, expressing his hope that the legislative bodies of both nations will promote friendship exchanges and experience sharing. Mr. Thuong said the two parliaments should support laws to enhance cooperation in economy, trade, and investment, and continue coordination at multilateral forums.
