Vietnam looks to improve ties with UNESCO

(VOVWORLD) - Chairman of Vietnam’s National UNESCO Committee Le Hoai Trung expressed his hope for strengthened cooperation with UNESCO to visiting UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova in Hanoi on Thursday.

Mr. Trung, who is Vietnam’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, emphasized the importance of UNESCO in implementing the 2030 sustainable development goals, adding that Vietnam and UNESCO should share their ideas and experience to serve sustainable socio-economic development.

Ms. Bokova praised Vietnam’s contributions to UNESCO and its role as a bridge between ASEAN and UNESCO.

The same day, Vietnam’s Ministry of Science and Technology and UNESCO signed an agreement to establish two centers for mathematics and physics.
