Vietnam makes practical contributions to IPU, expands cooperation with Kazakhstan

(VOVWORLD) - Chairman of the National Assembly’s Committee for External Relations Nguyen Van Giau on Wednesday gave an interview to Vietnam News Agency on the key outcomes of National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan’s participation in the 137th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU 137) in Saint Petersburg, Russia, and official visit to Kazakhstan.

Giau said that the Vietnamese National Assembly delegation’s participation in all activities of IPU Assembly and Chairwoman Ngan’s important speech on the first working day were praised by many parliament speakers and heads of delegations. They said many of Chairwoman Ngan’s suggestions were close to the world situation and could be applied to their countries.

On the sidelines of IPU Assembly in bilateral meetings with Chairwoman Ngan, representatives of other parliaments applauded Vietnam’s socio-economic development, noting that Vietnam’s status has risen. Participating countries proposed stronger parliamentary cooperation and regular exchange of high-ranking delegations.

Giau said that after her attendance at IPU meeting, Ms. Ngan visited Kazakhstan. The historic visit will open up new cooperation opportunities for the two countries and their parliaments.
