Vietnam, Malaysia to raise bilateral trade to 15 billion USD by 2020

(VOVWORLD) -Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh and Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Wan Azizah have pledged continued cooperation to increase bilateral trade to 15 billion USD or more by 2020.

During their talk in Hanoi on Friday, both sides agreed to strengthen the exchange of delegations and people-to-people diplomacy, continue to effectively implement bilateral cooperative mechanisms, and coordinate viewpoints on regional and global issues of mutual concerns. They stressed the need to increase dialogue between governments and businesses of the two countries, remove obstacles facing businesses, and create favorable conditions for them. The Vietnamese and Malaysian Deputy PMs discussed measures to boost cooperation in energy, agriculture, culture, tourism, and maritime issues. Both sides agreed to maintain consultation on issues related to regional security and strategy, jointly build an ASEAN of unity, achieve the ASEAN Vision 2025, enhance ASEAN’s central role in the regional structure, and promote the bloc’s role in addressing strategic issues in the region.
