Vietnam marks 55th anniversary of Cuba’s Giron Victory

(VOVworld) – A ceremony was held in Hanoi on Tuesday to mark the 55th anniversary of Cuba’s Giron Victory. In his address, Deputy Commander-in-chief of Vietnam’s People’s Army Senior Lieutenant General Vo Van Tuan said the victory was a turning point in the struggle for national liberation and freedom in Latin America and the starting point of Cuba’s path to socialism. He also praised the unity and solidarity between Vietnam and Cuba and their support for each other’s struggle for national liberation and development.

Cuban ambassador to Vietnam Herminio Lopez Diaz said Vietnam’s experiences in socio-economic development will be of great help for Cuba’s updating of its economic model: “We are proud of the relationship between Vietnam and Cuba, which reflects the absolute trust between the two parties, states, and people. We believe that the updating of our economic model will create opportunities for future bilateral economic and trade cooperation. The Cuban embassy will do everything possible to contribute to our relations.”
