Vietnam marks World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought
(VOVWORLD) -A meeting was held in Lao Cai province on Sunday to mark World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought.

The day is observed every year to promote public awareness of international efforts to combat desertification. This year’s Day has the theme “Land has true value – invest in it.” The Forestry Department under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is in charge of implementing the UN Convention signed by 186 countries.
Last year, Vietnam planted more than 230,000 ha of new forests and tended more than half a million ha of forests.
