(VGP) - Vietnam commends the Asian Development Bank, ADB, for its continued support for the restructuring of State-owned enterprises, SOEs. Deputy PM Vu Van Ninh made the statement while receiving ADB Vietnam Country Director Tomoyuki Kimura in Hanoi on Wednesday. Ninh praised the bank’s contributions in policy consultations and technical and financial assistance for the economic restructuring and the restructuring of SOEs. Ninh reiterated Vietnam’s consistent view to hold dominant ownership in corporations operating in natural resource exploration and social security insurance. These SOEs must operate in the market mechanism ensuring equality between state-owned and private enterprises. Ninh said that new policy amendments will be available to fit in with international practices and new circumstances. Vietnam hopes to continue receiving assistance in terms of capital, experience and policy consultations from ADB. Tomoyuki Kimura underlined his institution’s commitments to supporting Vietnam’s economic restructuring, especially the restructuring of SOEs. ADB has adopted a country partnership strategy with Vietnam until 2015 which centers on the restructuring of SOEs.
