Ethnic minority people are given free medical check-ups

(VOVworld) - Ha Hung, Vice Chairman of the Ethnic Affairs Committee presented a national report on implementation of the Convention on Elimination of Racial Discrimination at the 80th session of the convention’s committee in Geneva on Tuesday. In reporting Vietnam’s results in the period from 2000-2009, Hung affirmed Vietnam’s consistent policy of equality, unity and mutual respect among all ethnic groups. Regarding the teaching of languages of ethnic groups. Hung said the Ministry of Education and Training considering bilingual curricula. In terms of policies for ethnic groups, Hung said that in addition to preferential policies on loans, education, health care and production, ethnic groups will also benefit from direct investment projects including a project to build centralized resettlement areas funded by the State. Regarding rumors of discrimination against ethnic people, Hung insisted that Vietnamese law strictly prohibits ethnic discrimination. He said Vietnam has adopted many preferential polices to generate jobs for ethnic people, help them boost their production and improve their lives.
