Addressing the Vietnam Wind Power 2022, Vice Director of the Electricity and Renewable Energy Authority, Pham Nguyen Hung, reiterated the government’s determination to make renewable energy make up 27% of the overall electricity capacity by 2030 and 59% by 2050.
He expected strong development of onshore and offshore wind power to facilitate long-term national energy security:
Mr. Hung said: "Offshore windfarm requires complete infrastructure network and human resources to operate the system. This requires finetuning of the legal system and feasibility study as well as environmental impact assessment at sea."
Vietnam has the largest electricity system size in Southeast and ranked 22nd in the world in terms of installed capacity.
